Modifications enabled with this firmware upgrade (Published 04/08/2013)

  • When the Charging AC Adapter EH-69P and USB Cable UC-E6 were connected to the camera to charge the Rechargeable Li-ion Battery EN-EL12 with the EN-EL12 at or very near full exhaustion, the battery sometimes could not be charged. This issue has been resolved.

Basic Download and Installation instructions: (New firmware versions contain all previous versions.)

Windows

  1. Create a new folder with an appropriate name on your computer’s hard disk.
  2. Download F-S6200-V11W.exe to the folder created in step 1.
  3. Run F-S6200-V11W.exe to create the folder titled S6200Update, containing the following:
    • firmware: folder containing the firmware.bin file
    • firmware.bin: the firmware located inside the firmware folder.
  4. Format a memory card with the camera and use a card reader or similar device to copy firmware folder to the root directory on the memory card.
  5. Insert the memory card containing the firmware folder into the camera and turn on the camera.
  6. Select Firmware version from the setup menu and follow the instructions displayed to upgrade the camera’s firmware.
  7. After the upgrade is complete, turn the camera off and remove the memory card.
  8. Check the Firmware version item in the setup menu to confirm that the camera’s firmware has been upgraded.

Macintosh

  1. Download F-S6200-V11M.dmg.
  2. Double-click the F-S6200-V11M.dmg icon to mount the disk image titled, F-S6200-V11M.
  3. A folder titled S6200Update, containing the following files, will be created inside the disk image:
    • firmware: folder containing the the firmware
    • firmware.bin: the firmware
  4. Format a memory card with the camera and use a card reader or similar device to copy the firmware folder (containing the firmware.bin file) to the root directory on the memory card.
  5. Insert the memory card containing the firmware folder into the cameras memory slot and turn on the camera.
  6. Select Firmware version from the setup menu and follow the instructions displayed to upgrade the camera’s firmware.
  7. After the upgrade is complete, turn the camera off and remove the memory card.
  8. Check the Firmware version item in the setup menu to confirm that the camera’s firmware has been upgraded.
