CRITICAL Instructions

Version 4R4CB0XA.86A.0020.P14 BIOS image requires updating both the Boot Block and the BIOS image. Additionally, the CMOS structure defaults must be set to ensure settings are interpreted correctly. Updating the Boot Block is not normally required. The BIOS files included in this release will automatically update both the Boot Block and the BIOS image when executed by the autoexec.bat file provided with this release.

The temporary directory should contain the following four files:README {this file},BIOS.EXE,LICENSE.TXT,MK_BOOTZ.EXE

If all these files are not present, try extracting the downloaded BIOS file again.

1. Be sure to verify that the correct BIOS has been downloaded.
2. Enter BIOS SETUP upon boot up by pressing F2.
3. Write down all settings that are unique to the system. These settings will be needed later to reconfigure the system. Press F10 to exit BIOS.
4. Create a bootable floppy diskette.
a. If you have an unformatted floppy, place the floppy in drive a: and type "format a: /s".
b. If you have a formatted floppy, place the floppy in drive a: and type "sys a:".
c. Extract ‘bios.exe’ to the bootable floppy:
i. In a DOS environment: Type "bios a:".
ii. In a non-DOS environment: Create a new directory. Move 'bios.exe' into the directory. Double click on 'bios.exe'. Copy all the files in the directory except 'bios.exe' to the bootable floppy.
6. Copy the BIOS files onto the bootable diskette. Extract the contents of the BIOS.EXE file to the bootable floppy.
7. Place the bootable floppy containing the new BIOS into drive a: of the system to be upgraded and boot the system.
8. When prompted that the BIOS has been successfully loaded, remove the bootable floppy and reboot the system.
9. In an AMI environment a checksum error will occur, press F1 to enter setup. In a Phoenix environment, press F2 to enter setup.
10. On the first screen within SETUP, check the BIOS version to ensure that it is the new version.
11. In SETUP load the default values, by pressing the F9 key. If you do not set the values back to defaults the system may function erratically.
12. If the system has unique settings, re-enter those settings now. Press F10 to save the values and exit Setup.
